On the road again...

Just got back in from Bristol and the South West TUC's Organising Network. Good meeting, but as it came sandwiched between 9 hours of driving down the M6/M5 with a bad cold it hasn't been a great day. At least I had the latest from The Proclaimers to keep me company (note to self: This probably isn't the hippest of 'sound-checks'..."hey kids check out the latest chart-topper from....the Proclaimers.")

London tomorrow, so I'll be sharing my germs with a train-carriage full of early morning commuters - lucky people!

Glad you made it back safely, Paul.
It was an interesting session today (though it did occur to me the under pinning theme was recycled and re-presented by a few voices several times).
There were some excellent nuggets (ideas and work) I came away with, and it was generally a very useful seminar.
Thanks Heath

Cheers Heath

Glad you got something out of it...I was half-dead when I arrived this morning, but it was well worth trip down. Think the stuff around 2012 has real potential, and links really well into learning agenda.

see you again soon

I am puzzled, 9 hours of driving, hope it was not continuous, if so its about time you got fitted with a Tachograph. Don't they have trains in the South West?

9 hours was there and back, so did have a break (meeting) in between. Think train would have been about same time, but couldn't face the 5.30am start - got a half hour lie-in instead!

You have a stake in the future, called Children.

Think of the pollution you caused using a car (to transport one person) instead of public transport for the sake of a half hour lie-in. You could have slept on the train.

You're right of course Mrs K - though in my defence the meeting was a good 25mins away from the train station by taxi, and I would have had to drive to the station at that time in the morning, so thats 2 hours in the car on top of the train journey!

Video-conferencing thats the answer!

We used to do 'video conferencing in the late 80's. It was great for underlings (ie PA's and Secretaries) but the 'bosses' hated it. It stopped there overnight stays and cut out the 'expenses' etc. Perhaps that is why is has not taken off.

Now we have computers with cameras and sounds - perhaps it might be time to try and start up again.

Why not give it a go Paul?

You could still meet for a 'friendly' face to face once a year.
