Nice 'response' article to Polly Toynbee from Rozanne Foyer in today's Guardian.
Rozanne works for the TGWU, and I've know her for 7 or 8 years (we went through the TUC's Organising Academy at the same time). This piece rightly points out that rather than focusing on 'union barons' - it might be an idea to cover the work unions are doing to reach out to some of lowest paid, and poorly treated, workers in the UK.

People like Polly Toynbee irritate the hell out of me, they think they know the answer to everything but do nothing practical - just bleat.
It takes a person, who is busy doing something practical to take time out from their busy lives improving others lives to point out the obvious to 'pontificators' Godd for Rozanne Foyer.
A decent article against Toynbee who is a blathering pontificator with an axe to grind. But in my experience as an organiser it is the slavish "link" to the collapsed Labour Party machine that actually causes more problems for unions than it solves, particularly amongst young people who have precisely nothing in common with New Labour and will not countenance the idea of supporting it.
